The End of World War II
After the end of World War II, a great population and landscape of Europe and Asia were turned to ashes. Borders of countries were redrawn, homecomings, expulsions, and burials were under way. The massive effort of rebuilding had just begun. When the war had begun in the 1930s, the worlds population was at around 2 billion people. In less than a decade, the war between the Axis, the Allied powers had resulted in 80 million deaths-killing about 4% of the whole worlds population.
Allied forces had become occupiers, taking over countries like, Germany, Japan, and much of the territory they had ruled before. Efforts were made to permanently dismantle the whole war-making abilities of all the nations, as factories were burned down and destroyed and former leaders were removed and prosecuted. War crime trials had begun in Europe and Asia, leading to hundreds of executions and prison sentences. Millions of German and Japanese were forcibly expelled from their own homes. These are just some of many reasons World War II will leave scars that cannot be hidden.
